Health Care
  • For help finding LGBTQ+ friendly and affirming medical or mental health care providers, the following provider directories can help you search by zip or specialty.

Mental health is a crucial part of well-being. We recognize the unique challenges faced by the LGBTQ+ community. Whether you need someone to talk to, need support, or just want to learn more about mental health, here are some resources for you.

Black Mental Health Alliance

Tribal Youth Resource Center Resources for youth who identify as Two-Spirit or Native LGBTQ+.

MASGD works to support, empower, and connect LGBTQ+ Muslims. Inara Support Line PH: 71-OTM-INARA (1-717-864-6272)

Sage Advocacy Services for LGBTQ+ Elders. You will find a link on the website to the HearMe App, an on-demand mental wellness app that allows you to text one on one with a trained and empathetic listener.

UpLIft WI –you need to talk to someone when things are difficult or just want to connect with a peer, PH: 534 -202-5438 to reach a phone line staffed by a certified peer specialist. Available 10am-10pm CST daily.

Emergency or Crisis

Gender Affirming Care

Gender-affirming care encompasses a range of behavioral, medical, psychological and social interventions designed to support and affirm an individual’s gender identity when it conflicts with the gender they were assigned at birth.

iCare follows the Wisconsin Department Health Services Medicaid Guidelines in Forward Health regarding the coverage of gender-affirming medical and/or surgical treatments (GAMASTs). Please refer to this Forward Health Update No.2020-17 for covered services and requirements.

Many services require a prior authorization. You can refer to Forward Health Update No.2020-17 for details. Your provider can request prior authorization using the forms and information below:
